2017, Year of the Rando

Uh huh, I'm back what cha, uh whatcha gon do now?

So all day today, I've been wanting some poutine and I was determined to go to Frechy's in Canada on Ouilette to get some. So I asked a couple of people and of course no one wanted/could go. I didn't ask the besties cause I knew that if they did go, they'd only go because I wanted to, not because they wanted to go. I wanted whomever was going to enjoy it too.

Anyway, most places closed at 9 or 10, and I didn't feel like going to Green Dot Stables. Decided to go to the Mercury Bar, had never been but heard good shit. Until my friend called, I had determined I was going solo. Y'all know that makes me no never mind, I'll go solo if need be. So we went, I let her go on and on about her newest dating problems and I'm enjoying the fuck outta this burger, and fries, do you hear me? I got a bacon cheddar and added Swiss. Something was special about their mayo, forgot to ask but I was in a land of ecstasy while she's continuing about her nigga problems.

Mercury Bar is caddy corner to the Michigan Central Train Depot, my favorite building in Detroit, and across the street from Slows Barbecue. I've had a fascination with the Michigan Train Depot for years! Walking through the building is one of the items on my bucket list.

Just as a hop back, I was talking to my friend Taylor and she asked me to go on a "soul searching" journey with her. I initially responded by typing, "I don't need to do any soul searching, I know who I am", but you can't say that to someone without being rude. So I cleaned it up and said, "I did that 2016 and I learned a lot about myself. It's a good idea for you". So she asked me what I learned and one of the things that I said was that I love adventure and nature. Tonight was kinda misty, rainy a bit and a bit foggy. I decided to walk, something I never would have done last year, and get as close to the Central Depot as possible. The rain felt marvelous, even though its 40°, it feels like a brisk ass 50°.

As I'm walking up, I started to think about this one time I went on a speed date and this guy was super weird. This was when Situationship was around the first time-yeah he's back. Another story, another time. Now what I thought is when you're on a date, you usually put your best foot forward at least for the 5 minutes that you're sitting there getting to know someone. Well, someone never told this weird ass o'fay that.

First problem, I fucked around and signed up for the wrong class and did age 40 and up. So he's like the 3rd or 4th person that sat down. He looked like if Dr. Robotnic from Sonic the Hedgehog was a person. He had on a brown blazer, some jeans, and some Avia shoes. I remember this specifically lol. So we're talking, and you could tell this guy was uninterested from the moment he sat down. Look here bitch, you're no George Clooney so I'm really not here for your disinterest. While talking, we're discussing his interests and he told me he liked "Urban Archeology". Me using context clues, I asked, "oh it that like going through abandoned buildings and houses? I have an interest in that. I like to go look at abandoned homes and kinda imagine what the previous families were like...". I also told homie about the whole bucket list, Train Station exploration thing and as I'm speaking he scoffs at least once and rolls his eyes. He said, "Ugh, yeah yeah that's what it is. I hate the Michigan Train Depot, my friend went exploring and fell through an elevator well and died". So I said, sorry for your loss and all that jazz and now we're just quiet. He ain't say nothing, I ain't say nothing. I was so happy when that damn bell rang...

So I'm walking up and I'm remembering this and I bust out laughing for a good two minutes. Now I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable cause I'm out here, in the elements, at 11pm, in front of an abandoned building, alone, at night. I high tailed it back to my car so fast and drove by. Lol. With the new remodel going on, they're lights on inside now and I got to see rooms and areas that I had only saw in pictures.

Tonight was a good night.
