12th & Delaware is an HBO documentary about an intersection in Florida. What's so unique about this intersection is that on the east side of the street, there's an abortion clinic. On the west side of the street is a pro-life clinic. Talk about CONFUSION!
You already know how pro-lifers can be (I'm pro-whatever the hell YOU wanna do btw) and you know they never slack on the theatrics. They show the people pro-lifers in front of the abortion clinic with little fetus baby dolls, signs of supposedly aborted fetus' and catchy songs like, "Hey-hey, you-you, we don't like abortions. No-way, no-way gotta save the babies"! I do feel that some of the shit is extreme, like the pictures of aborted fetus', because they're located directly across the street from a middle school. I think that's just irresponsible of them to do.
The funniest parts of the documentary is when they're in the pro-lifer's office. So there's this chick that gets the people in there, and he main goal is to exaggerate all the things that could happen during an abortion to try to steer them away from it. When a woman first comes into the office, they label whether they're 'abortion-minded' or not, which sounds so fucking funny to me. For the people who are what they would call, "abortion-minded' she sends out an email to a mailing list, asking people to pray that the lady changes her mind. There are 2 interactions that always make me giggle my ass off. One is with a black woman, the other is with a Mexican.
The black woman comes in, already has two kids, and she's looking for an abortion because the father isn't shit. He's verbally abusive, I can't remember whether he was physical also, but all in all, he just didn't treat her right and she knew he wasn't going to be a good father. First, the lady bought her McDonalds then, the chick tells her "For all you know, the baby changes him. You're putting yourself through emotional trauma and physical trauma to cut off ties from him. You should keep the baby to give him a chance to shape up". Black chick looks at her like, this bitch can't be serious, started talking real slow and said, "Abortions are to terminate unwanted pregnancies. This pregnancy is unwanted. I would have no regrets at all. The only regret that I have is sleeping with him without a condom". The black lady went outside to use the phone and said "I'm just ready to go, this bitch is getting on my fucking nerve. She's not going to be there for me. Maybe she thought that if she bought me some McDonalds it would change my mind but...no".
When it came to the Mexican, she was outside of the abortion clinic, and about to walk in because she had 6 kids. The protesters were telling her, "whatever you need, whatever you need I'll help you. I'll give you clothes. I will go to the bank right now and give you money. I'll pay your gas whatever you need". So they talk baby girl into going across the street, and when they got her into the place they said, "You love children right, you have 6 children. I want to give you a present. You want a stuffed animal? Go ahead and take a stuffed animal we have so many of these! It's ok, we'll hook you up".
There was a major language barrier with her, so she didn't say much, but I'll be damned if you think giving me a fucking stuffed alligator is going to appease me lol. I always laugh when those two parts come on. Me personally, I'm pro-choice, but once again, that's just me. If I'm not stable, I wouldn't feel right bring a child into the world under that condition, but once again, that's just me. If you ever come across is on tv, check it out.
