Stomp The Yard: Homecoming

Was a total waste of time. I felt sorry for the gaffer. If you've seen the original and liked it, I beg of you, DO NOT WATCH THE SEQUEL!

The story started off exactly the same, main character is in a dance contest, gets hustled, but there's a twist! David Banner's crew hustled the main character Chance out of his money...so now Chance owes him 5 grand. They promptly beat his ass and the only reason they stopped was because someone started shooting. Chance takes this as an opportunity to run away.

Chance's family owns a restaurant, his father doesn't approve of his dancing and greek life, his mother recently died, and he used to date the sexy light skinned skeezit on campus (happened to be played by Keile from 3LW/Cheetah Girls). Anyway, dude crosses Nu theta, just like JD did in the original, and at their probate, Mu Gamma crashed it, just like in the original. The Dean of Mu Gamma challenged Nu Theta to a step off, just like in the original. The story is EXACTLY the same as the original, except for the added element of David Banner wanting to whip his ass and asking him to throw the competition. Im not going to tell you specifics about the ending...I'm going to let you suffer through it on your own.

All in all, I could've done without watching it. The only reason I kept watching it was so that I could give people specific reasons on why I hated it. I wanted to make sure I was giving an informed opinion. I really thought Lil Duval was going to have a bigger part. I remember when they were shooting the film (because he would tweet about it) and I thought he was going to have a much larger part. I was really disappointed with Pooch Hall's character. While he did come off as an authority figure, which is what I hope they were going for, he also came off as a bitch! The way it was written made him appear overly emotional and very "can't we all just get along". He would put on this really pouty face as if he was about to cry.  His facial choices did nothing for me.

I don't know what to say about the movie, it was just, different. What I did like about it was the cinematography. Visually, the movie was a success. I guess I could suggest you watching the film with the sound off.
